Reflections on a Cloudy Day is inspired by the ocean, portraying the richness of Australia’s extensive beaches and waterways with light bouncing across the surface and the shadows and tones thrown by passing clouds. This work uses colour, texture and a variety of mediums with different sheen to enhance the reflective effect, finishing with glass beads for extra reflective impact.
 
The theme is consistent with Rachel's current work, which explores Australia’s unique ecosystem, rich colours and topography. The spiral, which can be seen in all of her current work, symbolises evolution and our relationship with and impact on the environment in hope that we as a society can appreciate, protect and nurture what we have before it’s too late.
 
Sides painted deep blue to match the background. Signed on the side to enable multiple hanging options; hangs equally well portrait or landscape. Currently ready to hang landscape.
